Privacy Policy — Burpee

Burpee ("the app", "we", "us", "our") is developed by Fernando Gallo. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how. Burpee is a training log for CrossFit-style workouts: you record your WODs, benchmarks, and lifts, and the app keeps them synced to your account so they are available on any device you sign in to.

Short version: Burpee needs an account so your training history can sync. We store your email address, your display name, and the training entries you create. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

1. Information you give us

Account information

• Email address — required to create an account and sign in.
• Display name — shown on your profile inside the app. You can change it at any time in Settings.
• Password — if you sign up with email, your password is handled by Firebase Authentication. We never see or store it ourselves.

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple sends us your name (only on the first authorization) and an email address. If you choose Hide My Email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your real one, and the relay address is all we ever see.

Your training content — everything you log in the app:

• WOD entries: workout name and description, date, your score, notes, and the Rx and PR flags.
• Lift records: exercise, sets, reps, weight, date, notes, and PR flag.
• Custom workouts you create.

2. Information collected automatically

Google Analytics for Firebase. The app includes Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see how Burpee is used in aggregate — app opens and sessions, which screens are used, app version, device model, operating system version, and an approximate country/region-level location inferred from your IP address. It uses a per-installation identifier, not your name or email. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Diagnostics. If you opted into sharing analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may share crash and performance reports with us. That sharing is controlled by you in iOS Settings and governed by Apple's terms.

3. Data stored only on your device

• Your kg / lb weight-unit preference.
• An offline cache of your training data, so the app works without a connection and syncs when you're back online.

Signing out or deleting the app removes this local copy from your device. Your account data stays in the cloud until you delete your account (section 7). If you use Apple device backups (iCloud or local), Apple may include app data in your backup under Apple's terms — we don't control or access those backups.

4. Who processes your data

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics) — sign-in, cloud storage, and sync of your training data, plus the aggregate analytics described above. Google processes this data on our behalf, on servers located in the United States. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store distribution. See apple.com/legal/privacy.

We do not send your information to anyone else, and we do not sell or rent it.

Earlier versions of Burpee offered Facebook login. It was removed in July 2026: the app contains no Meta SDK, and we neither send data to nor receive data from Meta.

5. Information we do NOT collect

• No location data — the app never requests location permission.
• No health or fitness data from Apple Health / HealthKit.
• No access to your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera.
• No advertising identifier (IDFA), no advertising, and no cross-app or cross-website tracking.
• No payment card details.

6. How we use the information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To store your training history and sync it across your devices.
• To show your profile (name, email, WOD count) inside the app.
• To understand aggregate app usage so we can improve Burpee.
• To reply when you contact support.

We do not use your training content for advertising, and we do not share it with other users — Burpee has no social feed and no public profiles.

7. Retention and deleting your data

We keep your account and training data for as long as your account exists.

• Delete individual entries at any time — removing a WOD or a lift record in the app deletes it from the cloud too.
• Delete your account by emailing support@fernandogallo.dev from the address on the account. We will delete your authentication record and the training data associated with it within 30 days.

Routine backups may retain copies for a short period before they expire.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR in Europe, the LGPD in Brazil, or applicable Canadian privacy laws — you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email support@fernandogallo.dev and we'll help.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performance of our contract with you (providing the app and its cloud sync) and on our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and improving it.

9. Security

Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS, and data at rest on Google's infrastructure is encrypted. Access to production data is limited to the developer. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

10. Children's privacy

Burpee is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this address.
